What to know about Nolte kitchens
Nolte Küchen is a German kitchen manufacturer. Kitchens are made to a plan, with a range of fronts including handleless ones with a grip profile along the top. The carcasses are precise; the flat never is. Floors slope, corners aren’t square, and the wall around the service outlets is uneven.
The fitter starts with height. Base units go on adjustable legs and are brought to one level, taken from the highest point of the floor. Then they’re bolted to each other so neighbouring fronts don’t drift apart. Wall units hang on brackets that adjust for height and depth.
The worktop may be laminated board, or it may be stone or ceramic. A stone worktop is usually measured, cut and fitted by a separate company. The kitchen fitter’s job is to give it a level base and leave the right openings for the sink and hob.
Handleless kitchens are especially sensitive to adjustment. If the fronts sit with uneven gaps, you can see it in the line of the grip profile from across the room.
Safety: a gas cooker is connected only by a fitter with a gas licence, the hob and oven by an electrician. The water is shut off before the sink goes in.

Typical installation mistakes
- Level taken from the floor by the window when the floor by the door is higher. The last unit won’t fit under the worktop.
- Units not bolted together. A few months later a step appears between the fronts.
- Wall units hung on plasterboard without reinforcement.
- Appliance openings made without the appliance specs. The oven is a couple of millimetres too big for its niche.
- Protective film peeled off the fronts before all the work is done, and they get scratched.
Before the installation
- Check the plan against where the water, waste, gas and sockets actually are.
- Ask the seller who supplies the worktop and when it’s due.
- Keep the appliances and their manuals nearby; that’s where the niche sizes are.
- Clear a route for the units. You can’t tilt an assembled cabinet in a narrow hallway.
Booking the fit
Post the order in the app with the kitchen plan and photos of the room. Say whether you need just the units installed or appliances connected too. Fitters reply with bids giving their price and date, and you compare their reviews. If the electrics and plumbing are better handled by others, the order can be split between different fitters.
Contact details show after you choose, you pay the fitter directly and he issues the invoice. Materials, removing packaging and carrying units upstairs are counted separately. The fitter answers for his installation and redoes anything he set wrong himself. Crooked walls, old pipes and mistakes in the plan are not on him.
