Blind repair

A roller blind that will not roll up fully, drops by itself or sticks halfway, or a Venetian blind whose slats do not tilt evenly, can usually be repaired rather than replaced. The usual causes are a snapped cord, a broken chain, a worn spring mechanism or a bracket that has shifted.

The price is per job. Spare parts such as a mechanism, chain or tape are charged separately.

What the repair covers

• diagnosing the mechanism, cord, chain and brackets;
• taking the blind off its brackets;
• replacing the damaged part;
• rehanging and levelling the blind;
• checking rolling, locking and slat tilt.

External roller shutters

External shutters in a box above the window run on a strap, a crank or a motor. A strap or crank can be repaired from inside, but a motorised shutter needs access to the power and often to the box from outside. Say in the request which type you have.

What to prepare

Describe what the blind is doing and give its type and brand if known. Add a close-up photo of the mechanism. If you have spare parts from the manufacturer, mention it.
