Post-renovation cleaning: what the job involves
A renovation leaves fine plaster dust on every surface, paint and silicone residue, protective film, tape and stickers on new windows. An ordinary clean is not enough: the dust settles again almost straight away unless it is collected with a filtered vacuum and wiped down several times.
Post-renovation cleaning is priced per square metre of the flat. The amount of mess and whether window cleaning is included both affect the price.
What the cleaning covers
- vacuuming dust from floors, sills, skirting and walls with a filtered vacuum;
- washing floors, doors, frames and sockets;
- removing paint, adhesive and silicone residue from tiles and fittings;
- peeling off protective film and stickers;
- cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, plus the windows on request.
When to book
Ideally once all the dusty work is finished: sanding the plaster, cutting tiles and drilling. If anyone sands after the clean, the dust will be back. Moving the furniture in is best planned after the cleaning.
What to prepare
Give the floor area, the number of windows and photos of the worst spots in the request. Say whether the flat has power and water, and if building materials are left over, whether they need carrying out.
Common questions
Is removing rubble included?
No. Carrying out and removing rubble is a separate service. The cleaning covers small rubbish, film and packaging.
Is window cleaning included?
It can be added to the request. Windows after a renovation often have dried paint and adhesive on them, so it takes longer than a normal clean.
Does the tradesperson bring cleaning products?
Usually yes, including an industrial vacuum. If you want your own products used, mention it in the description.
