Hedge Trimming and Tree Pruning in Warsaw — A Tidy Garden in One Visit
22.03.2026Hedge Trimming and Tree Pruning in Warsaw — A Tidy Garden in One Visit
The hedge has grown out of shape, dead branches threaten the roof or bother the neighbours — common problems for homeowners across Warsaw. We trim hedges, prune fruit and ornamental trees, and remove deadwood. We work with Stihl and Husqvarna hedge trimmers, bring ladders and safety equipment. We service private homes in Wilanow, Ursynow, Kabaty and other districts.
How much does hedge trimming and tree pruning cost
The price depends on the length of the hedge, the height and number of trees, and the extent of pruning. A low thuja hedge up to 1.5 m is quick and simple. A tall hornbeam or beech hedge requires a ladder and more time. Pruning large branches is quoted separately. Branch removal is an extra charge. Current prices are in the table below.
| Service | min | max |
|---|---|---|
| Hedge trimming | 80 zł/h | 150 zł/h |
| Tree / branch trimming | 150 zł | 2000 zł |
| Leaf raking | 50 zł/h | 100 zł/h |
How the work is done
- You describe the scope: hedge length, number of trees, height. Send photos.
- The technician estimates the workload and quotes a price.
- We agree on a date — usually within 1-3 days.
- On site, the technician inspects the plants and determines the type of pruning (formative, sanitary, rejuvenating).
- The hedge is trimmed with a petrol or battery-powered hedge trimmer — straight line, clean shape.
- Trees are pruned with secateurs, loppers or a chainsaw depending on branch thickness.
- Cuttings are collected into piles or bags. By arrangement, we remove them.
Common pruning mistakes
- Trimming the hedge in peak heat — plants get stressed and may dry out.
- Cutting branches by eye without a guide — the hedge ends up uneven.
- Using blunt tools on thick branches — ragged cuts that heal slowly and invite disease.
- Pruning trees out of season — in spring you can damage sap flow, in summer you weaken the canopy.
- Not clearing cuttings from under the hedge — rotting debris attracts pests.
- Cutting conifers back to old wood — brown branches will not regrow green.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
- Ensure access to the hedge and trees from all sides.
- Remove garden furniture, pots, and decor from the work area.
- If a power socket is needed — prepare an extension lead.
- Decide on the trim shape: rectangular, trapezoidal, or rounded.
- Indicate which branches to remove and which to keep.
- If a tree is near the neighbour’s fence — let them know in advance.
- Confirm whether you need branch removal or will dispose of them yourself.
- Provide access and parking information.
Case study: hedge trimming in Wilanow
A private house in Wilanow — a 25 m Thuja Brabant hedge that had grown to 2.5 m, last trimmed a year ago. The hedge had lost its shape and was bare in places at the bottom. The technician arrived with a Stihl HSA 86 battery hedge trimmer and a stepladder. We stretched a guide line for a level reference. Trimming started from the top — removing 30 cm, then the sides. The bottom was carefully evened out without cutting into old wood. All cuttings were collected into 12 bags. The job took 3 hours. The client noted the garden was transformed — a neat green wall instead of shaggy bushes. Takeaway: thuja needs trimming at least once a year, otherwise it goes bare at the bottom and loses its shape permanently.
Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to trim a hedge?
Late spring (May-June) and late summer (August-September). Avoid trimming in extreme heat or frost.
Do you prune fruit trees?
Yes, we do formative and sanitary pruning of apple, pear, plum, and cherry trees. Fruit trees are best pruned in late winter or early spring.
Do you remove the branches?
Yes, for an additional charge. We can bag them or take them away immediately.
What height can you work at?
Up to 4-5 m with a ladder. Taller trees require a cherry picker or rope access — discussed separately.
Can a neglected hedge be rejuvenated?
Depends on the species. Deciduous (hornbeam, beech, privet) — yes, they tolerate hard pruning. Conifers (thuja, cypress) — carefully, as they don’t regrow from old wood.
What’s included in the price?
The technician’s work, tools, and travel. Branch removal is separate.
Do I need a permit for tree pruning?
For pruning — usually not. For felling — yes, a permit from the gmina is required. We can advise on the process.
Do you work in the rain?
Light rain is fine. In heavy rain we reschedule — wet branches are heavier and more dangerous.
How often should a hedge be trimmed?
At least 1-2 times per year. Fast-growing species (privet, hornbeam) up to 3 times per season.
Do you guarantee the result?
Yes, if the shape is uneven we’ll come back and correct it.
