Chair assembly: what the job involves
Flat-pack chairs look like an easy job until you have six or eight to build at once, straight and without a wobble. Chair assembly covers the legs, seat and back, tightening every bolt carefully and checking the chair stands steady.
The price is per chair. Dining sets are usually built all in one go.
What assembly covers
- checking the parts and bolts in every box;
- assembling the frame, seat and back;
- tightening the joints without stripping the threads;
- fitting felt pads, if included;
- checking the chair does not rock on the floor.
A wobbly chair
A chair usually rocks because the bolts were tightened unevenly or the floor is not level. Everything is first put together loosely, the chair is stood on a flat surface, and only then tightened. After a few weeks of use the bolts are worth tightening again.
What to prepare
The boxed chairs and some clear space to build them. Give the number of chairs and the model in the request. If you want the boxes taken away straight after, mention it.
Common questions
Can the chairs be built with the table?
Yes. Table assembly is a separate item, but it makes sense to book it all in one request.
Are felt pads included?
Fitting them is; the pads themselves are on you if they are not in the box.
What if a bolt is missing?
The tradesperson often has similar bolts. Special parts have to be ordered from the manufacturer.
