Check the core before cutting
How much you can take off depends on what is inside the leaf. Voster makes leaves with different cores, from light honeycomb to chipboard. A frame runs around the edge, and its bottom rail is not tall. With a light core, cutting right through that rail exposes the hollow structure and leaves the edge with nothing to hold on to. Then the tradesperson glues in a new rail or looks for another route: adjusting the hinges, or fitting a threshold.
The trim itself goes like this. The leaf comes off, the clearance is measured along the whole swing, the line is taped and cut with a rail-guided saw. The finish chips easily at the edge, so tape and a sharp blade are not optional. The fresh edge is sealed afterwards, especially in bathrooms and kitchens.
Other brands work the same way. If an Invado door or any other needs taking off and setting aside before a renovation, put it in the same job.

Voster door trimming: common mistakes
- Taking too much off a honeycomb leaf, so the edge opens up and crumbles.
- Trimming a door that has only sagged on its hinges. An adjustment would have been calmer.
- Cutting before the thresholds and rugs are down.
- A raw edge left in a damp room, which warps within a season.
Voster door trimming: getting ready
- Finish the floor down to the last skirting board.
- Photograph the bottom of the leaf, chips included.
- Check whether the door rubs only at the bottom or also at the side or top.
- Leave a bit of room by the door and on the balcony to work.

Open the appTape and small materials are usually in the price. Rubbish removal is extra, as is a new rail if one has to be bought. Whoever did the trim answers for it and redoes his own work. Hidden faults in the leaf and an uneven screed are outside that.
