The Tesa options
Tesa has a few product families. Powerstrips hold light things and come off cleanly if you pull them the right way. Powerbond tapes are for keeps, the choice when nothing is ever coming down. Then there are adhesive nails and screws: a base is stuck to the wall, a hook screws into it, and you can fine-tune the height afterwards.
Each type has a weight limit printed on the pack. Trust that number. A framed mirror is almost always heavier than it looks, so weigh it before buying fixings.
The other deciding factor is the surface. Smooth tiles, glass and flat painted walls are fine. Textured wallpaper, fresh paint and crumbling plaster won’t hold any adhesive for long.

Why adhesive fixings let go
- The wall wasn’t degreased. There’s dust and grease on the tiles, and the tape sticks to that instead of the wall.
- The item went up straight away. Adhesive needs time to reach full strength, and the instructions say how long.
- Too much weight. A strip meant for a light frame gives way under a mirror a week later, usually at night.
- Stuck onto wallpaper. It holds as long as the wallpaper does.
- Pulled off towards you. Powerstrips come off by stretching along the wall, otherwise the paint comes with them.
For a big, heavy mirror, adhesive may simply be the wrong answer. It’s more honest to ask the landlord about two small holes than to trust tape.
Before the handyman arrives
- Weigh the mirror or picture.
- Pick the spot and mark it, ideally on a smooth patch of wall.
- If the wall was painted recently, say so. Paint needs time to cure.
- Check with the landlord whether drilling is allowed as a last resort.
How to book
In the app, say what needs hanging, how much it weighs and what surface it’s going on. Add a close-up photo of the wall so the texture is visible. Handymen send offers with their own price, and you choose on price, rating and reviews.
Once you’ve chosen, the handyman sees your phone number and address. You pay them directly and they issue the invoice. Adhesive fixings may be a separate line, especially if a particular Tesa product is needed.
