Repair or replace
Noise usually comes from one of two things: a worn bearing, or an impeller caked in dust and grease. Dirt can be cleaned off, and sometimes that’s enough. A worn bearing in an inexpensive fan is rarely worth replacing. A new fan is cheaper and more reliable.
Before buying, make sure the fan really is the problem. If the duct is blocked or the shared shaft has weak draw, a new model will just fight the same resistance more loudly.
Another symptom: a fan with a humidity sensor runs non-stop or never starts. The sensor or its setting can be to blame rather than the motor. Sometimes moving the trigger threshold is enough, and nothing needs buying.

A new fan in an old hole
The hole left by the old fan has its own diameter and its own cut-out in the tiles. The new Blauberg has to fit the duct, and its front panel should cover the marks left by the old one. Measure both: the duct diameter and the outer size of the old housing. If the new one is smaller, you’ll be left with an ugly ring on the tiles or visible plug holes.
In a block with natural ventilation, a backdraft shutter helps. Without one, smells from neighbouring flats can drift back down the duct while the fan is off.
A fan with a timer or humidity sensor needs different wiring from a basic one. If the old fan only ran with the light, an extra wire may be needed.
Blauberg bathroom fan installation: common mistakes
- The new housing is too small for the old cut-out in the tiles.
- The fan is screwed on without rubber washers, vibration goes into the wall, and the noise comes back.
- No backdraft shutter on a shared duct.
- A timer model wired like a basic one.
Blauberg bathroom fan installation: getting ready
- Take off the old fan’s cover and photograph the hole and wires.
- Measure the duct diameter and the old housing.
- Ask the building management whether a powered fan is allowed on that duct.
- If there’s a gas water heater in the flat, say so in the order.
Who fits it
In the app, describe what’s there now, what should go in and the measurements, and add photos. Tradespeople in Warsaw send offers with their own price. You choose by price, rating and reviews and check the verified qualifications in the profile. Phone and address are shared after you choose, you pay him directly and he issues the invoice.
The fan, a backdraft shutter and any extra cable are bought separately, and so is taking away the old unit. The tradesperson answers for his own fitting and redoes it if needed. A blocked shaft or cracked tiles around the old hole are not on him.
Before taking the old fan off, switch off the bathroom circuit and check for voltage with a tester. With a gas water heater, the extractor must be assessed by someone with gas qualifications.
