A Ferro trap under the basin or sink
You probably know Ferro for its taps. If the trap under your basin carries the same logo, it works like any other: it holds a little water in the bend to block the sewer smell, and it connects the basin outlet to the pipe in the wall. It fails the same way too.
Before replacing it, sort out three things. First, the material. A chrome trap on show under a basin is usually swapped for a similar one so it matches the tap. A plastic one inside a cabinet can be any decent brand. Second, the washing machine or dishwasher inlet. If the hose is plugged into the trap, the new one needs the same spigot, or the washer’s water has nowhere to go. Third, the plug. On a basin with a click-clack plug the trap connects to the waste, and sometimes both parts get replaced together.
When is a washer enough? When one joint leaks and the plastic is intact. When does the whole trap go? When the body is cracked, the thread is stripped, or the chrome is flaking off with corrosion underneath.

Where leaks come from most easily
- An old washer on a new trap. Saving pennies and ending up with a soaked cabinet.
- The washing machine hose pushed in without a clip. It can pop out on the first drain cycle.
- The trap set too low or too high for the pipe in the wall. The pipe runs at an angle and the joint keeps moving.
- Nuts done up with a wrench instead of by hand. Plastic cracks, chrome bends.
- No non-return valve on the washer inlet where one is needed. Basin water ends up in the drum.
What to do the day before
- Clear the cabinet under the sink or basin.
- If the washing machine drains into the trap, don’t run it on the day of the visit, so the hose is empty.
- Take a close-up photo of the trap, including the washer inlet if there is one.
- Skip the drain chemicals before the visit. The plumber will be unscrewing the trap by hand, and it’s better if there’s nothing corrosive inside.
Booking without hunting for phone numbers
Describe in the app where the trap is and what it’s doing, and add photos. Plumbers who take this kind of work in Warsaw send bids at their own price, and you pick one by price, rating and reviews.
Contact details appear only after you choose: you see the plumber’s phone number, he sees your address. You pay him directly for the job, and the invoice comes from him too. The trap, washers and any non-return valve are paid for separately from the labour.
Order in the app
Describe the job, add photos and the address. Tradespeople send their own prices and dates, and you pick one of the offers.
