Krispol makes external roller shutters for several mounting layouts. In apartment blocks the usual choice is a surface-mounted one: the box goes on the façade or into the window reveal, and it can be added to an existing window without cutting into the wall. Built-in versions, hidden in the wall or above the frame, are normally planned during construction or when the windows are replaced.
The slats are mostly foam-filled aluminium. A shutter like that cuts noise and holds the temperature, provided there are no gaps around the box and rails. You can run it with a strap, a crank or a motor.
In a block of flats there’s also the façade to think about. Many housing communities (wspólnota) want changes to the outside of the building agreed with the manager. Ask before you order the curtain colour.

Krispol roller shutter installation: common mistakes
- The size was taken from the window frame, not the opening. The box doesn’t fit, or there’s a gap above it.
- Plugs meant for brick, in a wall with polystyrene insulation. A year later the rail starts to wobble.
- The joint between box and façade left unsealed, so water gets behind the insulation.
- Rails out of plumb. The curtain rubs and comes down with a clatter.
- Motor limits never set, so the shutter slams into the sill and eventually breaks the bottom slat.

- Measure the opening, or just photograph the window inside and out with a tape measure in the shot.
- Check with your housing community whether you need permission to mount on the façade.
- For a motorised shutter, decide where the cable will run.
- Take down curtains and move furniture away from the window.
Connecting the motor to the mains is for someone qualified in electrical work, with the breaker off.
From photo to fitting

You pay the fitter directly and he issues the invoice. He will fix his own work if something is badly seated. The state of the façade, old insulation or a crooked opening is not on him. The shutters, cable and rubbish removal are counted separately, plugs and screws are usually included.
