Fridge Refrigerant Recharge in Warsaw
Fridge Refrigerant Recharge in Warsaw
Fridge is on, the compressor is humming, but the temperature stays above +10–15°C? No frost on the back wall, condenser staying cold? Most often that points to a refrigerant (freon) leak. Just adding gas won’t solve it — first we need to find and repair the leak, then pull vacuum and refill the system. We handle the whole job on site across Warsaw: leak search, brazing, vacuum and recharge.
Cost

The price depends on the refrigerant type (R134a, R600a, R290), system volume, and how tricky the leak is. See the table for prices.

How it works

- You tell us the symptoms — weak cooling, compressor running all the time, or switching on and off too often.
- The technician comes with a gauge manifold and gas detector.
- We check system pressure — to confirm the leak.
- We find the leak using a gas detector or soap solution.
- Repair — braze the copper tube or swap the damaged section.
- Evacuate the system (remove air and moisture) — at least 20 minutes.
- Fill in the exact amount of refrigerant by weight (according to model specs).
Mistakes

- Adding gas without repairing the leak — it will be gone again in a week.
- Charging by guesswork instead of by weight — too much refrigerant is just as bad as too little.
- Skipping vacuum — moisture ruins the compressor within months.
- Mixing it up with a thermostat problem — with a leak the back wall stays warm; with a thermostat fault it stays cold.
- DIY with internet cans — without vacuum and brazing, it makes no sense and can be dangerous (R600a is flammable).
Preparation

- Fridge model.
- When it started.
- Take the food out.
- Unplug it.
- Access from the rear — we work on the tubes.
- Photo of the model sticker and data plate (it shows the refrigerant type).
- Air out the kitchen (R600a needs that).
- Set aside 2–4 hours.
Case from Warsaw

Client in Targówek: Liebherr — compressor running non-stop, fridge at +14°C. Condenser hardly warm. The gauge showed near-zero pressure. We found a micro-crack at the factory braze on the compressor line — damage from vibration. Brazed it, vacuumed for 30 minutes, charged 55g R600a to spec. After 2 hours — fridge +4°C, freezer -18°C. 3 hours total. Tip: if your fridge slowly loses cooling over a few weeks, that’s a classic sign of a slow refrigerant leak.
FAQ
What is refrigerant?
A gas moving through a sealed system that carries heat from inside the compartment to the outside. Without it, the fridge won’t cool.
Why does it leak?
Micro-cracks from vibration, corrosion on the tubes, factory brazing faults.
Can I just top up?
No — first the leak has to be repaired, otherwise the gas will escape again.
Is R600a flammable?
Yes — it’s isobutane. The amount inside a fridge (30–60g) is safe, but the room must be ventilated and there can’t be any open flames during the job.
Time?
2–4 hours.
Brands?
Samsung, LG, Bosch, Siemens, Liebherr, Whirlpool, Beko, Indesit.
Expensive?
Costs more than a thermostat, but less than a compressor.
How long will it last?
For years — if the leak is repaired properly.
DIY?
No — you need a gauge manifold, vacuum pump, gas detector, and brazing skills. R600a is flammable.
Warranty?
Yes, for workmanship and tightness of the sealed system.
