What sets Riho models apart

Riho makes a lot of acrylic baths in different shapes: wall-side, corner, asymmetric and freestanding, and some models have a whirlpool. Each is fitted differently, so work out early which case is yours.

Wall-side and corner baths go in much like any other: frame or legs from the kit, levelling, waste and overflow, a sealed joint to the wall. With a corner bath, check whether you need the left or right hand version and how square your corner is. A crooked corner in an older block eats the gap along the whole rim.

A freestanding bath needs a floor waste exactly under its outlet. If there is none, the floor has to be opened and a pipe run with a proper fall, which is a separate job best done before tiling. Taps for these baths are often floor-mounted, and the water supply for them is prepared in advance as well.

A bath full of water with someone in it is heavy, and the load sits on a small area of feet. If the floor is timber or you have doubts about it, raise it with the fitter before buying, not after.

A whirlpool adds electrics. A bath with a pump is connected to its own circuit with a protective breaker, and that is an electrician’s job, not a plumber’s. The pump must stay reachable for servicing.

Typical miscalculations

• Buying a freestanding bath without checking where the drain runs.

What to prepare

• Measure the room and mark where water and drain come out.
• Keep the bath, frame, waste and instructions together.
• For a whirlpool, find out whether there is a spare circuit in the consumer unit.
• Photograph the floor and walls where the bath will stand.

The water is off during the work, and the electrics are connected by a qualified electrician.

Finding the right people

Describe the bath model, the fitting type and what is ready already (waste, water, electrics) in the app, with photos. An order with several jobs can go to different tradespeople, so a plumber and an electrician each send a bid with their own price. You choose by price and reviews, and contact details open after that.

You pay each tradesperson directly and they issue the invoices. The bath, frame, tap and materials are separate. Each person answers for their own part of the work and redoes their own fitting; floors, old pipes and someone else’s wiring are not on them.
