What the job covers

First, what you won’t get here: a formal construction cost estimate based on KNR standards, the kind a bank, an insurer or a court asks for. There is no turnkey renovation with one price for the whole flat either. It works differently: you split the renovation into specific jobs, describe each one in the app and get offers from tradespeople. Next to the blog articles there is also an AI estimate: you describe the job and get a rough price range, but the final price comes from the tradesperson.

How a quote works in the app

A renovation quote in the app is not an estimate from a single firm. You describe the scope, add photos and measurements, and tradespeople nearby send offers with their own price and timing. Each one quotes for what they can see in the description, so the more precise the job, the closer and more realistic the figures will be.

For smaller jobs such as hourly minor repairs, painting walls or interior door replacement, photos are usually enough for a firm offer. For a bigger renovation the handyman often suggests a site visit, because some things do not show in photos: the state of the wiring, damp, or what lies under the old floor.

What to describe for an accurate quote

The key things are room sizes, the current state and the result you want. Say what stays and what has to come out, who buys the materials and whether anyone will be living in the flat during the work. In blocks and tenements, add the floor and whether there is a lift: carrying materials up and rubble down four flights with no lift is real working time. Finally, say when you want to start, as the spring and summer renovation season means fewer free dates.

A big renovation in parts

A whole-flat renovation is easier to compare when you split it into stages: strip-out, electrics, plumbing, walls, floors, bathroom, kitchen. Each stage can be booked separately, or you can describe the lot and ask who will take on several stages at once. The offers are then not a vague “turnkey renovation” but specific items you can put side by side.

What affects the price

The price in an offer depends on how much the tradesperson knows about the job. What changes it most:

  • how detailed the description is: area, materials, what stays and what gets replaced
  • photos that show the walls, pipes and floor
  • a site visit, since some things cannot be judged from a distance
  • time: on unusual jobs the tradesperson charges by the hour, usually 250–300 zł
  • travel, especially outside Warsaw, plus rubble removal and carrying materials in, which are priced separately

What to watch out for

  • One line instead of a description

"Bathroom renovation" can mean new silicone or stripping everything back to brick. The fewer details, the wider the range and the more questions in the chat.

  • Treating the AI estimate as the final price

It is a reference point. A pipe hidden under the tiles does not show in a photo, so the amount can change after a visit.

  • Comparing totals only

Check what the offer covers: materials, removal, disposal. The cheapest one often just leaves something out.

  • Leaving installations out of the description

If the work touches the installations, say so in the job description. Electrical work is done with the power off, and gas is connected only by a fitter with gas qualifications.

Before the visit

  1. A list of jobs, bullet points are fine, split by room
  2. Photos close up and from a distance, from a few angles
  3. Measurements: floor and wall area, ceiling height
  4. Who buys the materials
  5. Address with the district, floor, lift and parking (in Mokotów or Śródmieście this can be a real issue)

Questions about renovation quotes

Can I get an estimate for a bank or an insurer here?

No. KNR construction estimates and documents for a bank, insurer or court are not available on the platform; for that you need a cost estimator (kosztorysant). In the app you get priced offers from tradespeople for specific jobs.

Can I order the whole renovation with one quote?

Turnkey renovations with a single price aren’t available here. You can put it together job by job: tiling, painting, floors, fitting. Describe each one in the app and choose a tradesperson from the offers.

How much is a site visit?

A description and photos are often enough. If the tradesperson has to come over, the visit and measuring are a paid item, priced in the table.

How accurate is the AI estimate?

It gives a rough range based on your description and photos, nothing more. The final price is in the tradesperson's offer, sometimes only after a visit.

Are materials included?

No. The offer covers labour; small fixings are usually included. Materials, rubble removal and carrying materials in are paid separately.

Who is responsible for the work and issues the invoice?

The tradesperson who does it. Our part is the connection: in the app you compare offers and ratings and agree the scope.

Is getting a quote in the app free?

Describing the job and receiving offers costs nothing. A site visit may be charged if the handyman suggests one, and the terms are stated in the offer.

Why do the offers differ?

Tradespeople differ in experience, availability and how they read the scope. Compare offers by what they include, and ask about anything unclear in the chat.

Can I change the scope after receiving offers?

Yes. Agree changes with the tradesperson you choose before work starts, so the price in the offer matches the new scope.

Describe the job in the app.
