Technical consultation

A technical consultation is useful before money goes on a renovation or a purchase: can this wall come down, will the wiring take a new hob, is that crack dangerous, what order should the work go in. The tradesperson looks at the issue on site and says what is worth doing and what is not.

The price is per visit. It does not include the work itself, but it helps you describe the job properly and compare offers.

What the consultation covers

• looking at the problem or the area for planned work;
• possible solutions and their drawbacks;
• advice on which materials to buy and how much;
• the order of work, so nothing has to be done twice;
• which jobs need qualifications or permits.

When to book one

Before buying a kitchen, tiles or doors when you are not sure the walls are straight. After a leak, with damp or cracks, and when buying a resale flat. It does not replace a structural survey or a gas installation check.

What to prepare

Describe in the request what the question is about and add photos. Prepare a list of questions and, if you have them, a floor plan and photos of the wiring or pipes. The visit will be shorter and more useful.
