Water heater connection

An electric water heater is a hot water tank where mains-pressure water meets a high-power electrical supply. The wrong safety valve or a missing earth is a real risk. Connecting one covers hanging it on the wall, connecting cold and hot water through a safety group, and wiring the power.

The price is per job. The tank size, the wall type and whether the connections are already in place affect it.

What connection covers

• checking the wall can carry the tank full of water;
• fitting the brackets and hanging the heater;
• a safety group with non-return valve and drain;
• connecting cold and hot water, filling and bleeding air;
• connecting the power and a heat test.

Safety

The heater is switched on only after it is full, or the element burns out within seconds. The safety valve needs a drain to the waste pipe, since it releases a little water regularly while heating. The supply needs a circuit with the right breaker and an earth. If the wiring is old, an electrician checks it first.

What to prepare

The heater with its manual, a spot on the wall and whether water connections and a socket are in place. Give the capacity and a photo of the wall. An old heater can be removed in the same request, but it must be drained first.
