The price depends on whether re-gluing a few blocks and filling the gaps is enough, or the parquet needs sanding across the whole room. Current ranges are in the table; the handyman gives the exact figure in the offer.

How parquet repair is done
- Inspection. The handyman checks which blocks move, where the gaps are and whether there is damp under the parquet.
- Fixing loose blocks. Blocks that have come away are glued back to the subfloor so they stop creaking and flexing.
- Replacing damaged blocks. A cracked or damp block is cut out and replaced with one of matching species and thickness.
- Filling gaps. Gaps between blocks are filled with wood filler in the colour of the floor.
- Finishing. The repaired area is sanded and varnished, and if the whole floor is worn, the entire surface is sanded.
Common mistakes in parquet repair
- Filler on damp wood. It cracks and falls out within weeks, so the source of the damp has to be fixed first.
- Varnish over unfilled gaps. It looks poor, and the dirt gets sealed in under the finish.
- A block of different species or thickness. It stands out in colour and sits proud of the floor.
- No expansion gap at the walls. Wood moves with humidity, and without a gap the parquet lifts in summer.
What to prepare before the visit
- Check what parquet you have: solid, engineered or mosaic. The repair method depends on it.
- If you have spare blocks, keep them for the handyman: they give the best colour match.
- Move furniture away from the repair area, and clear the whole room if it is being sanded.
- Note everything that bothers you: creaks, gaps, loose skirting, and add photos to the order in the app.
Tarkett engineered boards: repair or relay
Tarkett sells engineered wood boards: a top layer of hardwood over load-bearing layers. The thickness of that top layer decides whether the floor can be sanded: a thick one takes sanding and new lacquer, a thin one at most a light refresh. A leftover board or the label lets you judge this from a photo of the cross-section.
A creak in one spot usually comes from a dip in the screed or a loose joint, and lifting one or two boards by the wall is often enough. Gaps by the radiator in winter are more often dry air than an installation fault. A new floor makes sense when boards have swollen after a leak, the top layer is worn through, or the whole floor gives under foot.
Questions about parquet repair
Can a creaking parquet floor be fixed without replacing it?
Often, yes. The cause has to be found first: a loose block, missing glue underneath or a gap at the wall. A local repair usually stops the creaking without taking the floor up.
Parquet repair or restoration?
Repair deals with individual spots: blocks, gaps, creaks. Restoration means sanding and varnishing the whole floor when it is dull and scratched everywhere.
How long does sanding take?
A 15–20 m² room usually takes a day of sanding and filling, then 1–2 days for the varnish to dry. You can walk on it after a day and move furniture back after two.
When to call a handyman about your parquet
A single creaking block can sometimes be quietened on your own. When gaps multiply, the parquet lifts or you can feel damp underneath, it is better to have it looked at. Describe the problem and add photos to the order in the app, and tradespeople will send their offers.
