The good news: you already have the key skill. You know how to work for yourself through an app, take orders, manage your schedule, deal with clients. Only the content of the order changes: instead of “drive there” it is “mount, assemble, fix”. Below is an honest look at how the switch works.
Why a handyman earns more than a courier
A courier or taxi driver sells kilometres; a handyman sells a skill. For a mounted shelf, a replaced tap or an assembled wardrobe the client pays for the result, not for time in traffic. A busy handyman at HandyMan24 makes 600–1000 zł a day, with no fuel, car rental or depreciation to subtract, because those costs simply are not there. A drill pays for itself much faster than a car.
“I’m not a pro”: what experience you actually need
You do not need a plumber’s diploma. Most requests are small jobs around apartments: hanging a shelf, a curtain rod or a TV, assembling IKEA furniture, replacing a tap, adjusting doors, changing a lock. If you have renovated your own place and everything at home hangs straight, that is enough to start.
If you do have experience in electrics, plumbing or finishing, even better: those jobs pay more and specialists are constantly in short supply.
The same flexible schedule, a different paycheck
The mechanics feel familiar: requests arrive in the app and you take the ones that fit your time and area, Mokotów, Praga or your own neighbourhood. Nobody sets shifts or tracks your “activity”. The difference is elsewhere: in a taxi your rating merely keeps you in the system, while a handyman’s reviews build a personal stream of orders — happy clients come back and recommend you to neighbours.
How to switch: 4 steps
- Register a specialist account in the app.
- A short call: experience, specialisation, area.
- Requests arrive in the app: take the ones that fit; you do not have to quit delivery or taxi right away.
- Do the jobs and collect reviews: the stream of orders grows with your rating.
What you need to start
- basic tools for your specialisation (a drill, a level, a set of spanners)
- legal stay in Poland
- conversational Polish, Ukrainian, Russian or English — enough to agree things with a client
- a phone with mobile internet: orders and communication go through the app
Detailed terms of cooperation are on the “Jobs for professionals” page.
FAQ
Can I combine it with delivery or taxi at first?
Yes. You take orders whenever it suits you: many start with evenings and weekends and leave delivery once the stream of orders becomes stable.
I do not have a company in Poland: is that a problem?
A company is not required to start. Everyone here works for themselves: some start without registering while turnover stays within the limit, others open a JDG or a spółka straight away. Which form to choose and how to report is your call.
I have few tools. Where do I start?
With furniture assembly and small mounting jobs: no expensive equipment needed. You buy more tools out of your first earnings.
