Rehau makes the profile, someone else builds the window
Rehau is a German manufacturer of PVC profiles, not a window factory. The window itself (profile, glazing unit and hardware) is put together by a local fabricator who buys the profile from Rehau. So read the quote as three separate things: which profile system, which glazing and which hardware. Rehau has several systems with different depths and chamber counts, so the brand name alone tells you little.
The other half is the fitting. The frame is set plumb and level and anchored into the wall; the gap is filled with foam and sealed with tapes, vapour-tight on the inside and breathable on the outside. Without the tapes the foam slowly soaks up moisture, crumbles and starts letting the cold in. Finally the hardware is adjusted so the sash presses the seal evenly all the way round.
Once the old window is out, the reveal nearly always needs work: plaster comes away, old wedges stick out. Agree in advance who does the inside reveals and the sill, since that’s often a separate item.
If your Rehau windows are a few years old and have started to let in a draught, you may not need new ones. Adjusting the hardware and fitting a new seal is often enough. A tradesperson can judge from photos and confirm on site. Replacement makes sense when the profile has warped, the glazing unit has misted up inside, or the original fitting was poor.

Where it goes wrong
- Measuring it yourself. A window ordered off a tape measure may not fit, or leave a gap foam can’t close.
- Foam with no tapes. Fine the first winter, not after the second.
- Leaving the protective film on all summer. The sun bakes it on and it comes off with the gloss.
- No adjustment after fitting. The sash drops, the seal sits unevenly, and the draught is back.
Getting the flat ready
- Take down curtains, rails and inside blinds.
- Move furniture a couple of metres from the windows and cover it with plastic sheeting.
- Clear the sills.
- In a housing cooperative block, ask the building management whether there are rules on colour and pane layout on the façade side.
How to book it
In the app, say how many windows and roughly what size, and add photos from inside and outside. Tradespeople send offers with their own price and date, and you choose on ratings and reviews. Phone and address are shared after you pick. You pay the installer directly and they issue the invoice.
The windows themselves, taking away the old frames and rubble, and carrying the new ones up are usually priced separately from the fitting, so check the offer. Whoever installs the windows answers for that installation, not for crooked walls or crumbling masonry they had to work with.
