Schüco is mainly about aluminium
Schüco is a German company best known for aluminium systems: windows, doors, large glazing and façades. It makes PVC systems too. As with other profile brands, a window fabricator builds the finished unit and Schüco supplies the system.
An aluminium sash with a big pane is heavy. It takes two people to carry and set it, and the frame has to be anchored so it carries that weight without flexing. Aluminium moves with temperature, so the fitting gap and tapes matter even more than with PVC. The frame has drainage slots; seal them with silicone or plaster over them and water stays inside the profile.
Servicing usually means the same few things: a dropped sash that needs a hinge adjustment, seals gone hard, and hardware that’s stiff because nobody has greased it since it went in. All fixable without replacing the window.
One more point for older buildings. New windows are far more airtight than the old ones, and ventilation in a block or tenement is usually passive, which needs fresh air coming in. Without it, glass and reveals start to sweat. So when ordering, ask about trickle vents.

Common slip-ups
- Measuring done by someone other than the installer. With large glazing every centimetre counts.
- A heavy sash fitted single-handed, ending in a scratched profile or a crooked frame.
- Drainage slots blocked after the façade was painted or the reveals were finished.
- Forcing an adjustment instead of checking whether the frame has shifted in the wall.
What to prepare
- Photos of the window or door from inside and out, with the hinges visible.
- A clear idea of whether it’s a new installation or servicing existing windows.
- A clear route from the front door to the window if large units are being carried in.
- For a replacement: two or three metres of space in front of the window.
How to book
Describe the job in the app and add the photos. Tradespeople reply with offers at their own price and date. Compare, read the reviews and choose; phone and address are shared only then. You pay the tradesperson directly and they issue the invoice.
Windows, seals, taking the old frames away and carrying new units in are usually priced separately from the labour. The tradesperson answers for their own installation or adjustment, not for the building settling or faults in windows someone else fitted.
