The profile isn’t the whole story
Aluplast is a German maker of PVC profiles, and local fabricators build the windows from them. How much noise comes through depends largely on the glazing unit, not the profile brand. Panes of different thickness or laminated glass cut sound better than a standard unit. Then there are the seals and the fitting joint: if there’s a gap at the wall filled with nothing but foam, noise and cold come in right there.
On existing windows, a lot can be fixed without replacing anything. Adjusted hardware pulls the sash tight against the seal, new seals close the gaps, and a glazing unit that has lost its seal can be swapped, sometimes for a quieter one. A new window makes sense when the profile has warped or the original fitting was poor.
If you do fit new windows, let the installer do the measuring. The frame goes in plumb and level on anchors, and the gap is foamed and covered with tapes. Ask about trickle vents too: airtight windows in a block with passive ventilation and no air supply will start to sweat.
It’s also a good moment to sort out the small things that are waiting anyway: a cracked window handle, a fly screen that won’t stay in the frame, a lockable handle for the children’s room. Add them to the same job so the tradesperson can price everything at once.
Price ranges and offers from tradespeople: window seal replacement in Warsaw.
Where people usually trip up
- Replacing whole windows when the noise is getting in through a leaky joint at the wall.
- Ordering the “warmest” glazing when the problem is traffic, not cold.
- Ruining the seals with harsh cleaning products.
- Forcing a window shut when the sash has dropped, which wears the hardware out faster.
Aluplast window installation: getting ready
- Photograph the windows inside and out, the hinges and the spots where you feel a draught.
- Say what bothers you most: noise, cold or a stiff handle.
- Take down curtains and clear the sills.
- For a replacement, move furniture back and cover it.
