What a decent partition has inside
Rigips is a plasterboard brand in the Saint-Gobain group. Besides boards there are studs, compounds and accessories, and the maker publishes ready wall build-ups: which board, how many layers, what fill. It’s safer to follow one of those than to improvise.
An empty partition with a single board each side drums like a box. Mineral wool between the studs and a double layer of board make a big difference to sound. If a bedroom or a home office will be on the other side, say so upfront: it changes the materials and the price.
A door in the partition is its own job. The opening is reinforced with a stud or a timber batten. Without it, a few weeks of slamming loosens the frame and cracks appear above the corners.
Then there’s weight. Plasterboard alone won’t hold a kitchen cabinet or a TV bracket. Wherever something will hang, a support goes into the frame, and the fixing later goes into that. Mark those spots on a plan, because once the wall is closed you can’t see them.

Rigips plasterboard installation: common mistakes
- Frame screwed onto brand-new laminate. The bottom track sits on the slab and the floor runs up to it.
- Partition fixed tight to the ceiling with no joint. The slab deflects differently, and a crack runs along the ceiling line.
- Ordinary wall plugs in plasterboard. It needs its own fixings.
- Skipping the insulation because “it’ll be quiet anyway”. It won’t.
Rigips plasterboard installation: getting ready
- Sketch where the partition goes, plus the door, sockets and anything heavy on the wall.
- If there will be sockets in it, an electrician runs the cables before the boards go on, with the power off.
- Photograph the room, floor and ceiling where the wall will stand.
- Check with the building manager whether carrying long studs in the lift or stairwell needs notice.
Booking
Post the job in the app with sizes and photos, and mention the door and insulation. Tradespeople in Warsaw send bids with their own price and date. Pick the one whose price and reviews suit you; only then do you exchange phone numbers and the address.
You pay the tradesperson directly, and they issue the invoice. Screws and plugs are usually included; boards, studs, insulation, the door frame, rubbish removal and carrying materials up are extra. The tradesperson answers for their own partition and fixes their own mistakes. Cracks in an old slab aren’t on them.
