A Tubądzin collection is more than one tile
Tubądzin is a Polish ceramic tile maker. Its collections usually combine base tiles, décors, borders and sometimes matching floor tiles. That makes it easy to plan a whole bathroom from one series, and just as easy to buy too few décors or forget the corner trims.
A good tiler starts with a dry layout or marks the set-out on the wall. They check where the cuts will fall so thin slivers do not end up by the door or mid-wall. They decide how high the décor band runs and whether it lines up with the basin or mirror. It takes time, and it saves a lot of grief later.
The boxes carry a batch number and a calibre. Tiles from different batches can differ in shade, and different calibres differ in size by a fraction of a millimetre. Grout lines show it straight away. When buying, check that every box has the same markings.
The base matters too. Tiles can go onto fresh plaster or over old tiles, but each needs its own primer and adhesive. Corners and the joints along the bath or shower tray get silicone instead of grout, because walls and bath move there. Grout in those spots cracks within months.

Common slip-ups
- Tiles from two batches on one wall. The colour difference only shows in daylight.
- Adhesive in dabs instead of full cover. Voids under the tile mean it cracks when knocked.
- No waterproofing behind the shower. Water gets through the grout and rots the wall from inside.
- A cut of a few millimetres next to the door frame. It looks like a mistake even when everything else is straight.
Before the tiler starts
- Buy tiles with spare for cuts and breakage, all from one batch.
- Decide where the décors go and show it in a photo or sketch.
- Pick grout and silicone colours, ideally with a sample next to the tile.
- If the walls are crooked or still covered in old tiles, include photos: levelling is a separate job.
