Moving furniture within the flat

One room being redone, a new layout or getting the flat ready for painting, and suddenly the wardrobe, sofa, bookcase and bed all have to move. Rearranging furniture means moving pieces within one flat, taking apart and rebuilding whatever cannot be moved whole.

The price is per hour, since the job depends on how many pieces there are and how big.

What the service covers

• sliding or carrying furniture to another room;
• taking apart and rebuilding wardrobes, beds and shelving;
• protecting the floor with sliders while moving;
• unfixing furniture from the wall and fixing it again;
• positioning and levelling it in the new spot.

Before painting or renovation

Before painting, furniture is usually pushed to the middle of the room and covered with plastic. Wall-fixed wardrobes have to be unscrewed first. The tradesperson can move things before the work and put them back afterwards, as two separate visits.

What to prepare

Empty wardrobes and drawers, shelves cleared and a plan of what goes where. List the furniture in the request and mark what needs dismantling. Describe a piano, safe or very heavy pieces separately.
