What actually wears out on a Veka window

Sills and making good the reveals after removal are usually separate items; settle them up front so you don’t end up with bare plaster round new frames.

Things not to do
- Leave the cams on maximum pressure all year. The seal flattens faster, and in summer there’s no need.
- Grease the hardware with cooking oil or chain lube. It collects dust.
- Foam the gaps round the frame yourself. Foam without tapes soaks up moisture.
- Replace every window before anyone has checked what’s actually broken.

Take close-up photos: hinges, the spot where the sash rubs, the seal and any misted glazing unit. Say how many windows have the same problem. For a full replacement, take down curtains, move furniture back and clear the sills.
