LED strip installation

LED strip gives a soft light under kitchen units, in a suspended ceiling, behind the TV or along the stairs. To shine evenly for years, it goes into an aluminium profile that draws away heat and runs from a power supply with spare capacity. Strip stuck straight onto furniture overheats and dims quickly.

The price is per running metre of strip. Fitting the power supply, controller and running cables are charged separately.

What the installation covers

• cutting the aluminium profiles and strip to length;
• gluing or screwing the profiles in place;
• fitting the strip and the diffuser cover;
• soldering or joining sections with connectors;
• connecting the power supply and testing the light.

The power supply and where it goes

The power supply is chosen with spare capacity and placed where it gets air and can be replaced: inside a unit, behind the plinth or in a box. Long runs are fed from both ends so the far end is not dimmer.

What to prepare

The strip, profiles, power supply and, if wanted, a controller or dimmer. Give the length of each run and where it goes in the request, with a photo. Say where the power should come from: a socket, a switch or a junction box.
