Electric cooker connection

An induction or ceramic hob or an oven is connected to its own circuit, and how depends on the appliance and the flat’s wiring: single or three-phase, connection box or socket. A badly connected hob may not reach full power or may heat the cables.

The price is per job. Cable, a socket or a connection box, if they need adding, are charged separately.

What the connection covers

• checking the appliance instructions and the flat’s wiring;
• switching off the circuit and testing it is dead;
• connecting the cable to the manufacturer’s diagram;
• checking the breaker in the consumer unit;
• switching on and testing every zone.

Safety

The hob and oven are the biggest loads in a kitchen. The cable and breaker must match their power. With three-phase hobs the phases have to be split correctly. Connecting a hob yourself without knowing the wiring is dangerous.

What to prepare

The appliance with its manual and the rating plate details. Give the hob or oven model in the request and add photos of the kitchen connection box or socket and the consumer unit. If the hob is going into a worktop, the cut-out should already be done.
