Built-in dishwasher connection

An integrated dishwasher slides under the worktop and is covered by a door that matches the kitchen. That door hangs on the dishwasher door, so it has to be fixed precisely: a few millimetres too low and it catches the plinth, too heavy and the door drops on its own. Connecting one combines water, drain and power with fitting the furniture door and plinth.

The price is per job. Trimming the plinth and a new valve or spigot are separate items.

What installation covers

• connecting the feed, the looped drain and the power;
• sliding it in and fixing it to the worktop or cabinet sides;
• fitting the furniture door to the maker’s template;
• setting the door springs for the weight of the panel;
• trimming the plinth and testing the first cycle.

The door panel and springs

Integrated dishwashers have adjustable springs that are matched to the door panel weight. If the door falls open or springs back, the springs are set wrong. Models with a sliding door, where the panel moves upwards, need more clearance under the worktop.

What to prepare

A 45 or 60 cm space, the furniture door, the template and the manual from the box. The valve, drain and socket should be in the next cupboard, not behind the machine. Say in the request whether the plinth needs trimming.
