What the job covers

You buy the furniture yourself, from IKEA or anywhere else, and the tradesperson assembles it, hangs it, fits the worktop and connects the appliances. Tradespeople on the platform do not design kitchens, sell furniture, move walls or reroute gas pipes. There is no single turnkey company either: each part gets its own offers and you choose. Aleks, who founded the service, spent four years making cabinet furniture and solid-surface worktops, so he knows what a gap between worktop and wall costs.

  • Full kitchen assembly from flat-pack
  • Base and wall cabinets, levelled carcasses
  • Laminate, wood and composite worktops, joints
  • Cut-outs for the sink and hob
  • Connecting induction hob, oven, integrated dishwasher and fridge
  • Splashback panel and wall painting

From boxes to a working kitchen

A kitchen usually goes in a set order. First kitchen unit assembly: carcasses, base units levelled, wall units in a straight line. Then the worktop and the cut-outs for the sink and hob, and finally the appliances: connecting an induction hob, oven, dishwasher and integrated fridge. If the flat has gas, gas cooker connection is done by someone with gas qualifications.

Each stage can be done by a different person, but it is easier when one team runs the whole thing, or at least knows who comes next. Then the electrician leaves outlets where the appliances will go, and the fitter does not box in valves behind a cabinet with no access hole.

When the kitchen is a few years old

Not every kitchen needs replacing. Doors that have drifted out of line come back with a kitchen front adjustment. Doors swollen from water by the sink or dishwasher can be replaced one at a time, and an old worktop can be swapped without touching the cabinets. In plenty of flats in Ursynów or Bemowo, a partial refresh like this gives the effect of a new kitchen for a fraction of the cost and without weeks of no sink.

What to prepare before fitting

A plan with dimensions and appliance positions, details of the water, waste and electrical points, and photos of the walls. For an IKEA kitchen, the article list from the planner is enough. An empty kitchen and access to water shorten the job noticeably.

What affects the price

A full kitchen fit is usually priced as a percentage of the furniture cost, single jobs per item. The amount depends on:

  • how many cabinets there are and whether there are tall units for the oven and fridge
  • the worktop: laminate cuts quickly, wood and composite take more work
  • how many cut-outs and joints the worktop needs
  • how far out the walls and floor are, which decides the levelling
  • how many appliances need connecting and whether water, drain and sockets are already in place

What to watch out for

  • Induction hob on a regular socket

An induction hob needs its own circuit with its own breaker. If there is none, an electrician comes first, the fitter second. This is not a DIY job.

  • Gas hooked up by a friend

A gas cooker is connected only by someone with gas qualifications (uprawnienia gazowe), with a leak test. Nobody on the platform reroutes gas pipes.

  • Measurements with no allowance

Walls in older blocks, say in Ochota, are rarely square. A worktop ordered to the exact millimetre either will not fit or leaves a gap.

  • Cutting the sink hole by eye

The opening is cut from the manufacturer template, after checking the cabinet underneath. A badly cut worktop usually has to be replaced.

Before the visit

  1. Furniture and appliances delivered and checked against the parcel list
  2. A kitchen plan or the store design with measurements
  3. Photos of the walls, sockets, water and drain connections
  4. Whether there is a separate circuit for the induction hob
  5. Who carries the furniture in and takes the boxes away, agreed with the tradesperson

Questions about fitting kitchen units

How much does kitchen fitting cost?

A full fit is usually a percentage of the furniture price, while single cabinets, worktops and connections are priced per item. Ranges are in the table, the exact amount is in the offer.

Can I buy furniture at IKEA and order only the fitting?

Yes, that is how it usually goes. You buy the furniture and appliances, the tradesperson assembles, hangs, cuts the worktop and connects everything. The platform does not sell furniture or designs.

Are materials included?

Screws and plugs usually are. Sealant, trims, hoses or extra hinges are paid separately. Carrying furniture in and taking boxes away is a separate item too.

Who connects a gas cooker?

Only a tradesperson with gas qualifications, so mention it in the request. Rerouting the gas pipe is not available on the platform.

Can I get the whole kitchen done turnkey?

There is no single turnkey company. You describe fitting, connections, splashback and painting in the app, and each part can go to a different tradesperson. Moving walls and design are out of scope.

Who is responsible for the quality?

The tradesperson who does the work, and they issue the invoice. The platform connects you with them: in the app you see offers and ratings and agree the scope.

Will the handyman move the water points for a new sink?

Small changes, such as moving a valve or extending the waste, yes. Bigger alterations to the pipework are better described separately so a plumber can quote for them.

How long does fitting a kitchen with worktop and appliances take?

A typical flat kitchen takes two or three days if the worktop is already there. A made-to-measure stone worktop adds time for templating and production.

Can I book just the worktop and sink?

Yes. Describe the worktop in the job and what needs cutting out of it.

Describe the job in the app.

Handymen send offers at their own price, and you pick one.
