A restaurant in Warsaw needed a full custom fit-out: wall panelling, built-in banquettes and lit niches, all in warm walnut. We built it from VIYAR laminated board — cut to size, assembled and mounted on site, fitted to concrete walls that were anything but straight. How much a custom furniture fit-out costs — and what drives the price
The price of a project like this depends on the number of elements, the type of board and finish, how much cutting and edge-banding is involved, and how much on-site fitting the space demands. Panelling over uneven concrete takes far more scribing and adjustment than a free-standing cabinet. How the project went, step by step
- Measuring the space — walls, niches and floor levels in several points, because concrete is rarely truly square.
- Cutting the VIYAR board to size and edge-banding every visible edge.
- Assembling the carcasses and the perforated decorative panels away from the wall.
- Mounting the wall panelling and aligning it to the real wall, scribing where needed.
- Building in the banquette bases and fitting the leather seat cushions and bolsters.
- Integrating the LED strips and power sockets into the niches, then a final fit and adjustment.
Working with VIYAR board: what matters (and where it usually goes wrong)
- Measuring “by eye” with no allowance — a panel comes out short and the whole sheet is wasted.
- Cutting laminated board without taping the line — the decor chips along the edge.
- Leaving cut MDF edges unbanded in a humid kitchen zone — the board swells over time.
- Mounting panelling tight to concrete without scribing — gaps open up where the wall bows.
- Matching the walnut decor across different board batches — the shade can drift.
- Planning niches without fixing the LED and socket positions first — you end up cutting finished panels.

- Agreement on who supplies the board and edging (we can source VIYAR or work with yours).
- Protection for finished floors and surfaces during the dust-making stages.
The result: the restaurant interior
The finished room reads as one warm, continuous piece: full-height walnut panelling, a perforated panel that doubles as a design feature, and a deep alcove with built-in seating. The cognac leather banquettes sit against raw concrete, while the lit niches give the bar area a soft, hospitable glow.
Every element was cut and fitted to the actual space, not to a catalogue size — which is why the panels meet the concrete cleanly and the seating runs flush along the wall. For a venue in central Warsaw, that level of fit is what separates a custom fit-out from flat-pack.
The whole installation was planned around the venue’s schedule, so the dusty work happened before the dining room was in use.
