Vinyl planks (LVT/SPC) have become one of the most popular flooring choices in recent years. They are waterproof, quieter than laminate, slimmer, and lighter. They work well in kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways — spots where standard laminate wears out fast. Fitting them is easier than it seems, but the small things count: the substrate needs to be perfectly level, and the installation method (click-lock or glue-down) determines how the job is done. We fit vinyl panels all over Warsaw — from Mokotów to Tarchomin.
Installation cost

Up-to-date prices are shown in the table. The final cost depends on the floor area, the panel type (click-lock SPC costs more to install, glue-down LVT takes more time) and the state of the substrate. Screed preparation is priced separately.

How the installation works

- Check the substrate — vinyl panels allow no more than 1 mm variation per metre.
- If required — grind high spots or use self-levelling compound.
- Click-lock SPC: a thin underlay (1–1.5 mm) is rolled out, then the planks are clicked together.
- Glue-down LVT: a dedicated adhesive is spread and each plank is laid one by one.
- Cutting in at walls, pipes, and door frames.
- Skirting boards and thresholds are installed.
Common mistakes

- Laying on an uneven substrate — every hollow shows through the thin vinyl and the locks start to open up.
- Using a thick underlay under SPC — manufacturers allow 1.5 mm maximum, otherwise the locks give way.
- Gluing LVT with tile adhesive — vinyl needs a proper adhesive made for this material.
- No expansion gap at the walls for click-lock panels — leave the same 5–8 mm as for laminate.
- Installing over underfloor heating without checking compatibility — not every vinyl panel is suitable for it.
What to prepare

- Check that the screed is level and dry.
- Buy panels with a 5–7 % extra allowance.
- Leave the material in the room for 24 hours so it can acclimatise.
- Remove furniture from the room.
- For glue-down panels — you will need adhesive (confirm the brand with the supplier).
A real case from Warsaw

A flat in Wola, kitchen plus hallway 22 m². The owners wanted a waterproof floor with a wood look. They picked 4 mm SPC planks with a rigid core. The screed was in decent shape — only two raised spots needed sanding. The installation took half a day. End result: a floor that feels warm underfoot, is not slippery, and handles water without any fuss — ideal for a kitchen with a toddler (compatible with Quick-Step, Egger, Kronopol and similar).
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between LVT and SPC?
LVT is flexible, glued to the substrate, and thinner (2–3 mm). SPC is rigid, uses a click-lock, is thicker (4–5 mm), and is installed as a floating floor.
Can vinyl go in a bathroom?
Yes, but the joints are not 100 % watertight. In wet areas, glue-down LVT is the better option — it bonds more tightly to the substrate.
How long does a vinyl floor last?
Good-quality vinyl — 15 to 25 years. Cheaper options (under 100 PLN/m²) — 5 to 7 years.
