Vinyl panel installation in Warsaw — waterproof flooring for every room

Vinyl planks (LVT/SPC) are the flooring trend of recent years. They are waterproof, quieter than laminate, thinner, and lighter. They suit kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways — places where regular laminate does not last. Installation is simpler than it looks, but the details matter: the substrate must be perfectly flat, and the fixing method (click-lock or glue-down) dictates the technique. We install vinyl panels across Warsaw — from Mokotów to Tarchomin.

Installation cost

Current prices are in the table. The cost depends on the area, panel type (click-lock SPC is pricier to fit, glue-down LVT takes longer) and the condition of the substrate. Screed preparation is quoted separately.

How the installation works

  1. Substrate check — vinyl panels require no more than 1 mm variance per metre.
  2. If needed — grinding or self-levelling compound.
  3. Click-lock SPC: a thin underlay (1–1.5 mm) is rolled out and the planks click together.
  4. Glue-down LVT: a special adhesive is applied and each plank is placed individually.
  5. Trimming at walls, pipes, and door frames.
  6. Skirting boards and thresholds are fitted.

Common mistakes

  • Laying on an uneven substrate — every dip telegraphs through the thin vinyl and locks separate.
  • Using thick underlay under SPC — manufacturers recommend 1.5 mm maximum, otherwise the locks fail.
  • Gluing LVT with tile adhesive — vinyl needs its own specialist adhesive.
  • No expansion gap at the walls for click-lock panels — the same 5–8 mm as for laminate.
  • Fitting over underfloor heating without checking compatibility — not all vinyl panels are rated for it.

What to prepare

  • Make sure the screed is flat and dry.
  • Buy panels with a 5–7 % surplus.
  • Let the material acclimatise in the room for 24 hours.
  • Clear the room of furniture.
  • For glue-down panels — you will need adhesive (check the brand with the supplier).

A real case from Warsaw

A flat in Wola, kitchen plus hallway 22 m². The owners wanted a waterproof floor that looks like wood. They chose 4 mm SPC planks with a rigid core. The screed was good — just two humps needed sanding. Installation took half a day. The result: a floor that feels warm underfoot, does not slip, and shrugs off water — perfect for a kitchen with a toddler.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between LVT and SPC?
LVT is flexible, glued to the substrate, and thinner (2–3 mm). SPC is rigid, has a click-lock, is thicker (4–5 mm), and is laid as a floating floor.

Can vinyl go in a bathroom?
Yes, but the joints are not 100 % watertight. For wet zones, glue-down LVT is a better choice — it seals more tightly against the substrate.

How long does a vinyl floor last?
Good-quality vinyl — 15 to 25 years. Budget options (under 100 PLN/m²) — 5 to 7 years.
