How the replacement works — step by step

1. We isolate the lighting circuit at the consumer unit — safety first.

3. Remove the old bulb: unscrew, release from spring clips or remove the shade.
4. Inspect the lamp holder for signs of melting or oxidised contacts.
5. Fit the new bulb and make sure it is properly secured.
6. Switch the breaker back on and test — the bulb should glow steadily with no flickering.
