Hanging a chandelier seems simple until three unlabelled wires stick out of the ceiling and the fixture weighs several kilograms. Safe installation means matching the fixing to the ceiling, wiring it correctly, and securing a heavy light firmly. This is work on the electrical system — if you are unsure about the wires, it is safer to call a technician than risk a short circuit or a falling fixture. Below is how we do it and how to prepare.
How much chandelier installation costs and what affects the price

The price depends on the fixture type (light flush mount, heavy chandelier, LED track), the ceiling type (concrete, plasterboard) and whether there is a ready outlet and hook. Replacing a light at an existing point is cheaper than installing at a new spot with chasing and cable routing. Current rates are in the table below — we quote upfront and you pay after the job. Materials (anchors, connectors, hook) are charged separately.

How the installation visit works

- We switch off the circuit at the board and confirm no voltage with a tester.
- We identify the wires: live, neutral and protective earth (PE).
- We match the fixing to the ceiling — hook, anchor or plugs rated for the fixture weight.
- We mount the base/bracket and hang the fixture provisionally.
- We connect the wires on a terminal block in the correct order.
- We hang the fixture, level it and cover the connections.
- We fit the bulbs and test operation with all switches.
Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

- Installing without switching off the circuit — the most common and most dangerous error.
- Hanging a heavy chandelier on the terminal block alone instead of a hook/anchor.
- Confusing the protective earth (PE) with neutral on old wiring.
- Universal plugs in plasterboard instead of toggle anchors — the fixture works loose.
- No slack in the cable, making the fixture hard to remove later.
- Mounting a metal fixture without connecting the earth.
What to prepare before the technician arrives

- Unpack the light and check the kit (screws, hangers, shades).
- Have bulbs that suit the fixture ready.
- Make sure you can access the consumer unit with labelled circuits.
- Clear the space under the mounting point and protect the floor.
- Check the switch actually controls that point.
- Have the manual ready if the fixture is unusual.
- Allow 45–90 minutes depending on the fixture type.
- Tell us if the ceiling is high — we will bring a suitable ladder.
A case from Warsaw — Wola, a living-room chandelier

A client in Wola bought a heavy chandelier and tried to hang it on a plastic terminal block — within a day the fixture began to tilt. He called us before it fell.
We switched off the circuit, confirmed no voltage and fitted a steel hook anchored into the concrete ceiling. The wires were connected on a new terminal block, earthing the metal body.
After levelling and fitting the bulbs, everything worked from both switches. The visit took about an hour. The takeaway: with heavy fixtures, it is not the wiring that matters most but a secure fixing to the ceiling.
Frequently asked questions
Can I hang a chandelier myself?
A light flush mount at an existing point — usually yes, after switching off the circuit. With a heavy fixture, old wiring or no earth, it is safer to call a technician.
Do you install into concrete and plasterboard?
Yes. In concrete we use anchors/hooks; in plasterboard, toggle anchors rated for the fixture weight.
What if three unlabelled wires stick out of the ceiling?
We test them and identify live, neutral and earth. That is a standard step of safe installation.
Will you connect a remote or dimmable light?
Yes, we install remote-controlled and dimmer-compatible fixtures — the bulbs need to be dimmable too.
Will you replace an old light with a new one?
Yes, removing the old and fitting a new one at the same point is a typical job.
Do I need bulbs?
Yes, ideally have suitable ones ready — then we test operation right away.
Do you install LED tracks and panels?
Yes, besides chandeliers we fit flush mounts, tracks and LED panels.
How long does installation take?
Usually 45–90 minutes, depending on fixture weight and ceiling type.
Do you cover Praga, Ursynów, Białołęka?
Yes, we serve all of Warsaw and the surrounding area.
Do you issue an invoice?
Yes, we issue a VAT invoice on request.
Who does the installation and how we work

Light fixtures are installed by HandyMan24 technicians experienced in electrical work. We always work with the circuit switched off, confirm no voltage and ensure correct earthing. We arrive at the agreed time, quote upfront and tidy up after ourselves. Payment after the job, no deposits. For more serious work on the wiring we always explain the scope first.
Need a chandelier hung or unclear wires in the ceiling? Leave a request online — we will install it safely and test it.
